Abstract

The aim of this project is to design the structural elements of all buildings. These buildings consist of concrete and steel works that contains slabs, beams, columns and foundations walls. The project consists of one concrete building. This concrete building consists of four stories. The building contain facilities that is designed to suit the needs of the Citizens according to the appropriate modern requirements. Moreover, the designing of the project consists of many stages, which is represented by examining the architectural sketches, choosing different kinds of structural elements such as columns, beams and slabs that is not in contraction with the architectural design. After that comes the stage of designing the structural elements by using computer programs and then displaying the results as executive sketches. There are many codes used in this project. Jordanian Building Code is used to determine live loads. Uniform Building Code (UBC-97) is used to determine seismic loads. In Addition, the American Concrete Institute’s code (ACI 318-14) is used for structural analysis and designing sections. The computer programs that has been used in designing the project are AutoCAD 2014, Atir 12, ETABS 2016, office 2013 and others.
