Totally nonnegative matrices, i.e., matrices having all their minors nonnegative, and matrix intervals with respect to the checkerboard partial order are considered. It is proven that if the two bound matrices of such a matrix interval are totally nonnegative and satisfy certain conditions then all matrices from this interval are totally nonnegative and satisfy these conditions, too, hereby relaxing the nonsingularity condition in a former paper [M. Adm, J. Garloff, Intervals of totally nonnegative matrices, Linear Algebra Appl. 439 (2013), pp.3796-3806].en_US
The work on this paper was finalized during M. Adm’s stay in the period May - July 2019 at the University of Konstanz which was funded by the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA). The work of M. Adm leading to this publication was started during his work at the University of Konstanz in 2018, where he was supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the People Programme (Marie Curie Actions) of the European Union’s Seventh Frame-work Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under REA grant agreement No.605728 (P.R.I.M.E. - Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience) and continued during his work at Palestine Polytechnic University.en_US
