dc.description.abstract The present report provides information on the use of cohesive elements for the simulation of crack extension in specimens and structures with special focus on exploiting symmetry conditions. Applications of a user defined interface element based on traction-separation laws, are given. The report is meant to assist students starting to gain experience by passing know-how of a previous generation. The examples given at the end may serve as benchmarks. en_US
