The Palestinian Educational System in West Bank and Gaza Strip

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to give a picture about the situations of the Palestinian education system in West Bank and Gaza Strip. Its an In-country phase of the educational planning and administration training program in the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) in Paris – France for the year 1998/1999.

In this paper, I exhibit different situations related to the educational system in West Bank and Gaza strip. They are: the geographical features, the demographic features, and the economic and socio-cultural situation. Also, there is a short analysis of the education sector explains structure of the education system, types of the education with a briefly notes about each, and some statistical data about schools, classes, classrooms, students, teachers and important rates and ratios which considered a very important indicator for the educational situation, that help the educational planners in their work, through in lighting the needs, shortage, untrue allocations need modifications. In addition to that, there is a short look at the statistical situation in the higher education represented by colleges and universities in Palestine with their educational elements and distribution according to some variables.

There is a short part of this paper talks about the financing of education in West Bank and Gaza Strip, and other part talks about the educational policy in Palestine.
