Resource Allocation System In Higher Education Institution

Abstract

Computerized systems provides the university with information technology solutions for many problems facing the university. Thus, we have introduced in our project a literature review about a system that can move universities towards electronic technologies and transform all organization's systems into computerized systems. This system is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). ERP is a larg and enterprise-wide system that consists of wide range of operations and can handle millions of business processes. We have decided to limit our scope to a sub-system and a part of ERP that is called Resource Allocation System. Resource Allocation System (RAS) main object is to integrate IT Department with other departments, specifically Registration Department and Human Resources Department in Palestine Polytechnic University. Through creating a web-based application we have achieved the integration among three departments. This integration eliminate the traditional way of exchanging data and information from Registration Department and HR Department and enable the Academic Administrator of the IT Department of doing his/her work easily and save much time and effort this could lead to a faster decision making. RAS can handle four main functions that is usually done by the academic administrator: 1) distribute students to the academic plan 2) present courses to distributed students 3) distribute load on instructor 4) and distribute physical resources. These four functions need integration between the IT department and Registration Department which will provide the IT Dept with students information
