dc.description.abstract |
This project aims to guide a blind person in order to find her / his location in indoor environment , where no Geographical Positing System can help . The environment that surrounds the person is represented by a set of images taken from by a mobile phone . Initially the system captures images of many locations, extracts their features and stores them. After that , a new feature is extracted from the image of the unknown location and is compared with the stored features . Finally , the location is sent to the blind person using a voice message . To overcome the problem of having different locations with similar images , the particle swarm optimization approach is used . A simulation program has been developed in this project ; it has a set of stored images that represents the environment and it accepts input images to demonstrate the localization progress . This program allows the researcher to change some variables and observe the effects on the searching process . The user can also select a search path and the search process is shown graphically until best location is reached. The project will be available at the PPU website so that the researchers, who are interested in the localization process using PSO, can benefit from it. This will also reflect the research done at the PPU and increase the popularity of its website |
