Abstract:
This project aim is to design a vehicle access control system for a Palestinian organization , such a system is built on automatic identification and recognition of vehicle based on their plate numbers so as to restrict the entrance for only authorized vehicle , the recognition of the plates numbers are accomplished through four major steps which are: image acquisition , next licence plate extraction , then plate segmentation, and finally, the character recognition step.
Specific algorithms and techniques for identifying the vehicles have been proposed and implemented .
As for the extraction phase the vertical edge matching is applied, the segmentation stage is performed using the horizontal and vertical projection profile. And finally , the neural approach is applied for the recognition phase.
