Thyme Production Line

Abstract

The agriculture plays an important role in the national incoming within the Palestinian territories; Thyme is one of the most used herbs in the local market. It is commonly used in food and medical industries, it also considered as a principal element of the traditional Palestinian dishes (Palestine’s culture). Thyme crops harvesting and handling are done in traditional methods (i.e. manually), the traditional methods have several problems which include; long harvesting time, huge teamwork effort in post-harvesting handling (for instance, separating the leaves from branches). To facilitate Thyme harvesting and post-harvesting processes, thyme harvester machine designed and thyme splitting machine designed and built. These machines allow the farmers to sell thyme as a bundle or as leaves only. In our project, the process automation used Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) unit for the automatic thyme splitting machine. A prototype of the automatic thyme splitting machine was constructed to demonstrate the process automation. 3 ملخص تعذ الزساعة في األساضي الفلسطينية جزءا ههوا جذا هن الذاخل القىهي؛ و الزعتش هن أهن الوحاصيل التي يتن تسىيقها في السىق الوحلية. يستخذم الزعتش بشكل اساسي في الونتجات الغزائية وفي صناعة األدوية وايضا يعذ بحذ راته جزءا ههوا هن العالج باألعشاب ، ويعتبش الزعتش هن الىجبات التقليذية في الثقافة الفلسطينية. حصاد الزعتر وتضمٌهم وفصل االوراق عن االغصان )التفرٌط( ٌتم حالٌا بالطرق التقلٌدٌة الٌدوٌة ،وهذه الطرق لها عدة سلبٌات منها :تحتاج لوقت طوٌل عند الحصاد، جهد كبٌر،عدد كبٌر من االٌدي العاملة ، باإلضافة الى االمراض التً تنتج عن الغبار خاصة فً عملٌة التفرٌط . فً هذا المشروع ، تم تصمٌم ماكنة الحصادة، وتصمٌم وبناء ماكنة الفراطة. هذه الماكنات ستتٌح للمزارع امكانٌة بٌع المحصول اما على شكل ضمم زعتر او على شكل اوراق. تم استخدام المتحكم المنطقً المبرمج فً ماكنة الفراطة للتحكم فً عملها. وتم بناء نموذج عملً لماكنة فرط الزعتر لتوضٌح العملٌات االلٌه لها.
