Abstract:
Compaction machine is used to compact a specimen of soil for proctor (100mm diameter) and CBR or California Bearing Ratio (150mm) tests to eliminate the laborious hand compaction method, in which a rammer is left to fall freely through a guide from a specific height to the specimen, and lifted then to the same height until all the specimen is compacted. The university's previous machine was completely damaged, in the project the machine is developed to keep up with new technologies, in which the machine is controlled by a logical controller, the safety in the machine is increased by closing the working area and prevent the machine from working whenever the door is opened, and it was also improved to be more user friendly using a touch screen that shows the options, errors, number of turns
and anything blocking the machine from functioning, and successfully the machine was built to help in preparing a more accurate specimen.
